Media Review: Stepping Up for Neurodiversity in Ibadan.
The Pathways to Brighter Futures Foundation (PBF) successfully hosted its highly impactful Autism Awareness March on June 5 in the city of Ibadan.
The vibrant public demonstration brought together a diverse coalition of parents, educators, health professionals, and passionate advocates. They united under a single, clear objective: to dismantle social stigmas surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and demand inclusive educational infrastructure across Nigeria.
Key Highlights and Purpose
1.Challenging Misconceptions: The primary drive was addressing deep-seated cultural myths. Organizers actively educated the public to counter regional tendencies to view autism through a spiritual lens rather than as a medical, neurodevelopmental condition.
2.Advocating for Accessibility: Participants used the platform to champion early childhood diagnosis frameworks. They explicitly called on the government to establish robust special education laws and inclusive departments within mainstream schools.
3.Fostering Community Alliances: By moving the conversation into the streets of Ibadan, PBF successfully established practical connections between isolated families and essential therapy networks
